Text 2 Jan 2 notes consume

Why is it easier to “love” in animate things; cars, songs, food, etc. Its because these things can’t hurt us back.  We get exactly what we want out of them, they never change; can never thing for themselves; don’t have their own needs; They always fulfill and satisfy our expectations.  People get so attached to some objects that are literally in love, in their mind anyway.  The guy who parks his car in the back of the lot, taking up 3 or 4 spaces just to avoid potential damage.  The same guy who doesn’t open the door for his wife, incapable of showing the same love to a human being, let alone a significant other.

We are in a consumer mindset, all we know is consumption; its instilled in our minds from birth; use it and move on.  The whole world is tailored to the consumer with their customer service and money back guarantees.  The mentality is that the second we have a problem with something, its worthless.  We go looking for a better deal, drop it and move on.  What is sad is that we are so wired to think that, that we apply the same mentality to the people around us.  We objectify everything. Nobody can be happy living a lifestyle in which you constantly cycle through people, wanting the fastest, the newest, the best.  That only applies to technology, not people.

There are few interactions as dynamic as the ones with another human being.
